We are interested in understanding basic questions related to cellular proliferation, cell identity acquirement and the coordination of growth programs during development. We are also tackling questions on the genetics of adatation to the environmental conditions and the role of development in such adaptation processes. We carry out strategies combining genetics, molecular biology, genomics, physiology and natural genetic variation. We use the radial growth of plants, as developmental model system due to its simplicity. In parallel, we also pursue translational projects aimed at manipulating specific aspects of development in forest trees and crops to enhance our capacities for biomass formation.
